So, in our time, thermal imaging systems are very popular. And they use it for so many, and different purposes. Devices with thermal imager technology are often used in the army, on military operations, and on secret missions. After all, as we know, a thermal imager has the ability to see heat, to be more precise, it sees infrared radiation that emits all objects or living beings that have a temperature above zero. This means that even in complete darkness, the thermal imager can easily detect a person. That is why this system is useful to the military. After all, they thus track down the enemy, the enemy’s equipment, and can prepare to attack them. Since the technique works on internal combustion engines, the motors will heat up and emit a lot of infrared rays, which the thermal imager will notice at a very long distance.
Hunters also often use thermal imaging cameras to track and capture wild game. It will not only allow him to see the predator itself, but will also make it possible to find the trace of the animal. Namely, if the animal passed by you not long ago, then you can even notice fresh footprints on the ground. Even when the hunter has already fired at the beast, but he somehow survived and ran away from you, fresh drops of blood will stand out very brightly on the thermal imager display and lead you straight to the beast. For hunters, this technology has become very useful, and it has become much easier to hunt with it. Some specifically go hunting at night to use the thermal imager for its intended purpose, and hunt all night knowing that the prey will definitely be in your hands.
Since technology does not stand still, the thermal imaging system has also begun to be used in medicine, namely for thermal imaging diagnostics of your body, to search for various tumors and diseases. Thermal imagers are also being used to treat Covid-19. Today we will analyze all these issues and tell you a little about the advantages and limitations of thermal imaging systems.
Advantages of thermal imaging systems
The first advantage is ideal work in any conditions. The thermal imager will give you the perfect image in any weather. Emu is not a hindrance to rain, snow, frost, heavy mud and so on. The thermal imager will work normally and without interference despite all these weather conditions.
The second advantage is perfect shooting even in complete darkness. The operation of thermal imaging systems will work even better at night than during the day. After all, infrared radiation will be better visible to the thermal imager, and the image will be transmitted better and more accurately.
Accuracy is the third advantage. A good and serviceable thermal imager will display even the smallest temperatures. And anything that has a temperature of at least 0.1 degrees Celsius will be clearly visible to you.
The next advantage is temperature measurement. Any object or creature that emits infrared rays, that is, heat, will not only be perfectly visible to you on the display, but will immediately show its temperature. In short, non-contact temperature measurement is also present on almost all devices that have thermal imaging technology.
Well, almost the most important advantage is shooting at long distances. Shooting will not stop even at a sufficiently large distance. This is one of the best features of a thermal imager and is often used for its intended purpose. Namely, in the army, or on the hunt, they always watch the territory at a great distance.
Well, the most important advantage is the ability to see through walls or other obstacles. The thermal imager is able to see infrared radiation, and transmit it to you even through a wall. A person standing behind a wall is not a problem, because the thermal imager will give you an accurate image with a silhouette of a person, even through a thick wall. In the same way, a hunter can see his prey even through trees or bushes, and observe him without any problems.
Well, now we will talk about what limitations or disadvantages of thermal imaging systems exist.
Well, the very first and main drawback is the price. The cost of thermal imaging devices is very high, and not every ordinary person can afford to purchase such a device. Even the simplest and, let’s say, economical options will have a fairly high price, let’s not talk about the newest and best samples whose price is simply cosmic.
The second limitation is working in very hot weather. This cannot be called a disadvantage, but nevertheless there are interferences in the fact that the sun heats up a lot of different objects, things, and even at night after sunset, everything around will glow red, and, so to speak, emit infrared rays. And all because the sun has heated a lot of everything that retains heat and everything will be displayed warm on the display. Let’s say if you need to find the trace of an animal, or you need to track down an enemy on a combat mission, then it will be very difficult, because almost everything in your path will radiate heat and display it on your screen.
Fortunately, there are much fewer restrictions, and this is very good. But as we have already said, thermal imaging systems are often used in medicine. And now we will talk a little about Covid-19 and thermal imagers.
Thermal Imaging and COVID-19
As we know, during the epidemic of this virus, many people who fell ill with it had a temperature. And humanity thus tested in public places for the possible presence of this virus. As we have already said, a thermal imager not only transmits an image of heat, but can also measure any temperature. In order to reduce the epidemic of the virus, the temperature of each person began to be measured in public places, and those who had a fever were immediately taken to a safe place and tested for Covid-19.
Since the presence of people has always been large, and in order to instantly measure the temperature of each person, a special thermal imager that showed only the temperature was ideal. It was enough just to point the thermal imager to the head, as soon as it showed the exact temperature of a person.
Today we discussed a little thermal imaging technology, how it works, what it is for, and where it is used in our time. We told you that technology does not stand still, and nowadays thermal imagers are not only used for such a hobby as hunting, or for military operations, or surveillance. But they are also often used for medical purposes. We talked a little about the most important advantages of all thermal imagers, and how they are useful for humans. We also discussed some minor flaws that occur in all devices that have thermal imager technology.
