The Metal Gear series has always had a lot of different types of games and some really creepy parts.
Many words have been used to describe Hideo Kojima’s well-known Metal Gear series, such as “groundbreaking,” “innovative,” and “weird.” All of these statements are definitely true, given how many games in the series have changed the stealth-action genre and how many great moments and situations they’re known for.
Kojima has always used a lot of different types of music in his work, and horror is nothing new for him. Long-time fans can speak to the many creepy things that have happened, from strange conversation that breaks the fourth wall to unsettling tasks where you have to avoid angry ghosts.
Mantis – Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid is where one of the most famous parts of the story takes place. When Solid Snake meets out of control Mantis, the game becomes more mysterious because Mantis starts to track the player’s progress by counting how many times they’ve been caught, eliminated, and saved. He also reads the memory card to see if there are any other Komani-made games on it. For example, he does the same thing with the PC version of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.
During his boss fight, he will quickly turn off the screen to make it look like the TV is broken or someone is messing with the. This was very creepy for a game from 1999.
The Man On Fire – Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
In Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, Venom Snake stops at a so-called “hospital” on his way through North Africa. It’s already scary enough that there are a lot of dead bodies with blood, strange growths, and headphones stuck in their mouths that the Man on Fire from the beginning of the game shows up again.
There is then a boss fight, which is very scary the first time you do it. However, bullets and bombs don’t seem to hurt this guy, and he can easily call up huge infernoes. Seeing the flying boy in the gas mask definitely makes things more strange, but having to decide whether to fight the burning figure or run away is too exciting and scary.
Guy Fearless – Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2)
When Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater first came out for the PlayStation 2, Naked Snake (Solid Snake’s dad and the future Big Boss) was caught and sent to jail. Without a jail escape part, it wouldn’t be a Metal Gear game!
If they save, close, and then come back to the game later. They’ll be able to play a short test of a hack-and-slash game with a lot of monsters. There is no music; there is only a man in a hood fighting with swords. It is said that Kojima came up with this idea for a game that never got off the ground. Snake then gasps in shock as he wakes up from what he calls “a nightmare.” That’s some really creepy stuff…
Vamp’s Reveal – Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 2’s Raiden’s Plant part was a great way to meet the “blood-sucking freak” Vamp. A group of people from SEAL Team 10 can be seen looking around the Strut B Transformer Room. Vamp throws knives into the throats of two soldiers from above.
The first two guys were lucky. The third guy, who was desperately firing his assault rifle but getting no results, ends up losing his life by Vamp’s knife, which was quickly swung several times and cut once in the throat. When Raiden and the not-so-mysterious Iroquois Pliskin sneak in, Vamp is seen eating the blood of a dead soldier and making a mark on his skin to show how many he has slaughtered.
Paz’s Emergency Surgery – Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes
Ground Zeroes was a very short game, but there was one part that made fans wince in their seats. Big Boss’s attempt to get Paz out of an illegal prison camp turned out to be a disaster. We learned that she was packed with explosives. So the doctor on the rescue chopper had to operate on her without pain medication.
After this, Paz is vivisectioned while the doctor tries desperately to take out the bomb. Paz is screaming in pain the whole time. The camera is always on her uncovered innards, so the game doesn’t hold back on any gore.
Laughing Octopus – Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots
In Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, this fight has it all. Lots and lots of creepy laughing. Laughing Octopus, the game’s first boss, falls onto the scene and crawls back up before going up against Old Snake. Playing hide-and-seek to avoid being ambushed and puking up a big puddle of blood are just two of the creepy things that happen.
After the fight, she slowly starts to cry. Before saying she’s sorry over and over again for laughing, only to laugh even more. Once she loses her artificial limbs, she walks slowly and seems harmless. She’ll even crawl toward the player if they’re lying on the ground, which makes everything so uncomfortable.
The Sorrow – Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
There is an odd “boss fight” with the Sorrow in Metal Gear Solid 3. To be honest, it’s not really a fight; it’s more like a bad case of guilt gone to go out of control. Naked Snake gets out of jail and ends up going through a small river. Along the way, he has to avoid the ghosts of people who have passed away and The Sorrow’s ESP blasts, who turns out to be a ghost.
Everyone screams into Snake’s ear like he just died, so codec calls don’t solve anything. Towards the end of the “journey,” Snake dies quickly, and the Game Over screen shows up. The answer was to choose and use the Fake Death Pill, who would have thought?
Sneaking Past Ghosts – Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
There is a scary Peace Walker task that Big Boss can do. During the “Dead Man’s Treasure” side missions. You have to get items from dead friends in the middle of the night. They’re very mad and will attack the player if they see them. Before the specters attack, you can save the troops’ lives by giving them CPR.
But if you call Mother Base over and over, you will get answers that are full of junk. Slope Game players who wait will eventually hear a creepy Easter egg about The End (from the third game, who Snake beat in a gun battle) talking from beyond the grave.
Mother Base Quarantine – Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
In the middle of the game, Mother Base is hit by a disease that spreads very quickly. Venom Snake slowly walks past the sick people who are locked up in a dark quarantine bay in a straight line. By the end, he has reached an R&D genius and found a device that can check to see if someone is sick. It turns out that everyone is.
Every soldier has to be exterminated by the player. People are scared, some try to fight back, and some respect Snake before they die. At the same time, Huey joins the call and keeps blaming and guilt-tripping the player. There’s something so wrong about it that makes it so appealing.
Intense Colonel – Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
When Arsenal Gear captures Raiden and locks him up, it’s a truly famous moment. The Colonel starts to say a lot of intense things, like telling Raiden to “turn off the game console right now,” speaking Japanese, asking for 61 knives, quoting old Metal Gear games, and more.
When it comes out that Raiden’s manager is actually an AI and not the same Colonel who worked with Snake, the fake Colonel has a long speech about The Patriots’ goals, which are to control digital information. The shaky language is one thing, but the dialogue that fans have called predictive makes this one of the scariest parts of the whole series.
