More than 1000 games were available for the Wii, including famous exclusives and popular 3D platformers that were available on more than one system.
The Wii, which came out at the end of 2006 and replaced the Nintendo GameCube, became a big hit right away. It is the second most popular Nintendo home system and was made to appeal to a wider range of players. You can move the Wii mostly by moving your arms and legs.
It had a huge collection of games—more than 1000 in all! In the 3D platforming genre, the Wii has both famous games that can only be played on that system and popular games that can be played on more than one system. Many fun games in this type are played on or made just for Nintendo’s popular home system. Some have well-known characters, while others are hidden gems that don’t get enough attention.
Sonic and the Secret Rings (2007)
Sonic and the Secret Rings was the first game in Sonic’s Storybook Saga. It was only available on the Wii. The game was a financial hit, selling 83,000 copies in the first month it came out. Many reviews also thought it was better than the 3D games that came out right after it.
In the story of Arabian Nights, the setting is one of the most original and new I’ve seen in a Sonic game. The music is also good. It stays true to the rock style of the first three Sonic games while adding Middle Eastern folk music. There are good graphics, a co-op party mode, and both racing and platforming in the Wii, but the motion controls aren’t the easiest to get the hang of. This game is like Sonic, but it’s a whole new journey.
Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure (2011)
The first Skylanders game, which was first made for the Wii, was the first video game to make Toys-To-Life popular. In this feature, players use real toys that can connect with the game through an NFC unit. That’s why this 3D game was even more exciting, even though it cost a lot if players wanted the whole experience.
The story is made up of scary creatures that players must fight, puzzles to solve, and prizes to find. The game is definitely best for younger players. It got good reviews for being fun for the whole family, but it got bad reviews for not having online gaming. It was a one-of-a-kind game that started the Toys-To-Life genre.
De Blob 2 (2011)
Even though a lot of people may not know about the de Blob series, they are truly underrated gems. In fact, de Blob 2 is more focused on platforming than its predecessor from 2008. It was praised by reviewers for being fun to play and having great design.
The story is about Blob, who tries to save his world from the bad guy Comrade Black and bring color back to it. From Paradise Island to The Senate and the Railyards, the 12 levels are all fun and different. Blob can change into seven different colors, and it’s fun to see his world return to its bright, colorful glory. It’s really one of the best Wii games, with great graphics and sound that will appeal to people of all ages.
NiGHTS: Journey Of Dreams (2007)
Journey of Dreams is a unique 3D platformer that comes after NiGHTS: Into Dreams, which was the best game for the Sega Saturn. It came out in 2007 and is a mix of platforming and flying games. As fun as it was on Saturn, controlling NiGHTS’s famous flying through Rings and keeping track of the Link count is still fun. Some people didn’t like how NiGHTS was controlled with the Wiimote, but the game can also be played with a classic controller or a GameCube controller.
One new thing for Skibidi Toilet players is the chance to play as Will and Helen, two children, in their own platforming sections. Featuring unique settings, a great soundtrack with classic Sonic Team musicians, and peaceful times within the game, this title provides a soothing experience while also having fun boss fights and nice images.
Tomb Raider: Anniversary (2007)
This game is an improved port of the original Anniversary PS2 release, with new features added for the Wii version to mark 10 years since Lara Croft first came out on home platforms. Overall, the images and visuals are better, and the addition of puzzles that are only available on the Wii makes this 3D game more fun and interactive. Players can also aim and shoot enemies with the Wiimote aimed at the screen, which makes the game feel more real.
There are tasks that make you think on your feet, and the platforming is smooth. This is a great adventure game for the Wii. It has clear voice acting, settings that feel real, and puzzles that are well thought out.
Epic Mickey (2010)
In this Wii-only game, Disney’s famous mouse comes to life in his own dark and scary platform game. It’s a story about forgiveness in the end, and the ending is very powerful. However, the mood is pretty sad because it’s mostly about what happens to Disney figures who have been forgotten.
In the story, Mickey goes to a sad version of the Magic Kingdom on a quest to beat the Shadow Blot. Mickey’s paintbrush can be used as a weapon by throwing the Wii Remote. With it, he can also add platforms and take away things to find secret items. The game even has a morals system like in Sonic the Hedgehog. The character’s path is determined by the choices the player makes. For Mickey, what he does determines whether people see him as a good guy or a bad guy. This Wii game is one of a kind and has a dark twist to it.
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (2007)
This is the first Lego game for the Wii, and many people think it’s one of the best. Players go through Episodes 1 through 6 of the famous movies. This was the first time that players could do this on a computer game. The Wii version is more fun because the Wiimote can be “wielded” as a sword. Which makes the game more interesting to play.
Players can take control of many famous Star Wars figures, from Anakin Skywalker to Zam Wesell, and must pick the right one to get past certain hurdles. Some characters and scenes are written out, but hey, it’s the Trade Federation. It’s still fun to play through these famous movies in a 3D puzzle platforming style, though.
Sonic Colors (2010)
People really like Sonic Colors, and there’s a good reason for that. The Wisps, new Power-Ups that make high-speed platforming even more exciting, the bright world, and the great music all work together to make a Sonic experience that you will never forget. There’s also a little silly fun that will keep people laughing!
In this game, Sonic goes on a journey through space to free the alien race Wisps from Dr. Eggman’s control. The Wisp feature makes the game more fun. Because it lets players go in different directions and helps them find prizes.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
The game that comes after Super Mario Galaxy is truly amazing and the best Wii game ever. It has a lot of the same parts as Super Mario Galaxy, but it also has some new and different things, like Rock Mario, Cloud Mario, and Yoshi coming back. With Mario’s Cloud power-up, you can build new platforms, which makes exploring even more fun. Yoshi has his own power-ups too.
Even though the themes of both games are similar. The places in Super Mario Galaxy 2 don’t feel old or repetitive. Any player who finally beats Grandmaster Galaxy can say that it’s even harder than the last one in many ways. More than that, it’s the only Mario 3D adventure that came out on the same system as its predecessor. It’s really a great addition to the 3D platforming genre.
Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
The first Galaxy game really raised the bar for 3D platformers when it came out in 2007 and is still great today. Fun, addicting levels, great anti-gravity physics, and Super Mario-style story telling taken to a whole new level are just a few of the ways that this game changed the world. The graphics in this Wii-only game are still beautiful.
Great thing about this game is that it’s easy for a lot of people to play. Because it gets harder as you get more Power Stars for Mario. Each level has its own set of goals that help players get ready for the final battle with Bowser. Which is one of the most exciting boss fights in Super Mario history. This game changed the way 3D platformers were made forever and is still one of the best ones ever. There is no better 3D puzzle game on the Wii than this one.
